I am officially the coach of my Niece’s 3rd-5th grade PAA Basketball team π I am so excited!! Robbie Jamison….it is weird to now be where you were when I was ten! π I hope to be as good of a coach to these girls as you and your dad were to me! πβ€ β feeling blessed Β -11/15/16
We have our official assistant coach, Andy O’Brienπππ the girls are going to have so much fun!!! Andy was in an accident a few years ago and has been finding his own strength and light at the end of the tunnel…He has always been someone I have looked up to. He was the most school spirited and outgoing person in our high school and was always at every single high school game, cheering everyone on. He is the kind of person that makes everyone around him feel special and he truly has one of the best attitudes out of anyone I have ever met. which is why I thought of him when I was trying to figure out who I should choose for my assistant coach…and it’s kinda perfect also that he went to school to be a P.E teacher πβ€ I definitely hope that together we can help these girls learn how to overcome adversity, respect and cherish everyone and have confidence in themselves!!! and ya know…just be winners on and off the court π-11/17/16
We finally have our second practice tonight! And I finally get to post pictures and videos of our awesome team now that I have all of their parents permission ππ these girls are the best! They have such good attitudes and are so good at listening and applying what they learn π I once again got extremely lucky to have yet another amazing team to be a part of! πππβ€οΈ
Second game of the season with another win!!! These girls are awesome! Couldn’t have asked for a better team!! β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈππ -01/07/17
These girls make my life so special!! I am so thankful to have this opportunity to be their coach! I feel like every time I am having a hard time…we have a practice or a game and everything gets better instantly as soon as I am around them. They are so sweet and so sincere and I want to be the best role model I can be for them. I want to be strong for them and I want them to be strong for themselves β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ we didn’t have a game this Saturday so I invited them to come play with our youth wheelchair basketball kids. I invited them last minute…and they showed up πππΒ -01/14/17
Practice and Bonding!! -01/27/17
I can’t believe tonight was our last practice of the season…I am gonna miss them so much!!! I am definitely looking forward to their big jamboree this weekend!! These girls really are amazing. I am very lucky to have been blessed with the opportunity to be their coach. They don’t even know, but they helped me through some really hard times. They got me out of bed…even when their practice was at 7:30pm, because there were times I really struggled. But every practice, every game, these girls brightened my world! β€ They are hilarious, smart, sweet, fun, outgoing as well as shy, and so incredibly kind, respectful, supportive…and of course…oh so talented!! β€β€β€ I hope to stay in touch with all of them forever β€π I also gotta say how awesome all of their other coaches were to them and me this season, Tonya Dixon, Andy O’Brien and Jake Dodson! We couldn’t have done it without you guys! -01/09/17
UNDEFEATED SEASON!!! So Proud!!! π 03/04/17
We had our Jamboree today! Β π And the girls played awesome! We definitely saw someΒ ups and downs as we played 4 games in one day. πͺπΌπͺπΌπͺπΌ We went undefeated for the season β€ but we had our first loss today, going 3 and 1 for the Jamboree… We needed to lose though π it’s good for zee soul! We saw some of the girls cry…for the sweetest reasons and I only fell more in love with all of these sweet girls! β€β€β€β€ The little girl sitting in front of me is Natalie, she reminds me of myself when I was her age. She is playing both soccer and basketball at the same time and she is so crazy fast! I love watching her play…brings back some of my best memories! She joined our team late after her dad went home from a coaches meeting and told her I was coaching for the league. He remembered her telling him about me after I had spoken at one of her school assemblies last year. Β He had been trying to get her to play basketball this season but she didn’t want to. When he told her I was coaching she asked if she could play with our team! π Β It made me so happy to hear her dad tell me all of that. At the end of the Jamboree today she came up to me and asked if I was going to coach again next year β€ Despite the fact that my niece will no longer be playing in the league…I think I am going to have to come back! These girls mean the world to me!
