Maughan Prosthetics and Orthotics

I know how overwhelming it can be to find a Orthotist that really, truly cares about you and what you need. For the first two years after my accident I had leg braces that would cause me to have huge sores all over my feet and make it so that I was in so much pain I had to avoid trying to walk altogether for months while the sores healed. I was already having such a hard time with everything I was going through, that all of the appointments going back and forth to have my leg braces adjusted became too much for me to deal with. I ended up going without leg braces for an entire year. Going without my leg braces was extremely debilitating, not to mention, extremely painful. When I would try to do things without my leg braces on…it would feel as if my ankles were broken and I was jamming them into the ground every time I tried to take a step…and I couldn’t balance. It was a pretty hopeless feeling.

And then, after a year of this…I came home from college for the summer and my Dad told me that one of his clients had a brother-in-law that could make me leg braces. He said he had a really good feeling about this one.  I was hesitant about going to see this guy because I had tried so many different Orthotists before and none of them ever listened to me nor seemed like they cared.

But my dad handed me Justin Maughan’s business card and I called him. I remember the conversation perfectly. I was in the driveway, sitting in my car thinking this was just going to be another pointless appointment. But when he answered the phone…it was crazy…he was such a genuine person and he talked to me for what seemed like forever. He was in no rush to get off the phone and he wanted to completely understand my situation. When I got off the phone…I couldn’t stop smiling. I was finally excited about the future again!

And ever since that day in the spring of 2011…my life has continued to get better and better. At every appointment, Justin spends hours and hours of his time making sure that the leg braces fit perfectly. He will call to check on me and make sure they are working out. There were even a few times in the beginning when the leg braces were causing me a little bit of pain and needed to be adjusted…but I had a flight the next morning and I would think I was just going to have to deal with it…but he told me that was nonsense and he had me come to his house, and hangout with his amazing family while he worked on my leg braces until midnight!

I swear…he is one of a kind and I would highly suggest him to anyone who needs Orthotics or Prosthetics.

…I would also highly suggest Gray Media Productions 🙂

MAUGHAN PROSTHETIC & ORTHOTIC

At Maughan Prosthetic & Orthotic, it’s not about building prosthetics and orthotics… it’s about building better lives. For 20 years, owner Justin Maughan (Licensed and Board Certified in Prosthetics and Orthotics) and his staff have been doing just that!

In 2009, I decided it was time for a change.  My desire was to create a company with a hand selected group of employees who had nothing but compassion for their craft.  I wanted to create an atmosphere where everyone’s opinion counts.  The goal was to provide an unparalleled level of service built around patients needs, desires and dreams.  I’ve found the process to be constantly evolving, however I think we are on the right path.   We currently have on site physical therapy, in house fabrication and a new facility large enough to accommodate all of our patients needs.  Whatever the future may bring, we will always be that small company that will listen to your dream…and then build it!

JUSTIN MAUGHAN, Licensed Certified Prosthetist Orthotist/Owner

I graduated from Washington State University in 1994 with a degree in Biology.  I received my prosthetic training at Century College in White Bear Lake, MN and my orthotic training at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. I began my career in 1995 working as a technician while attending school at Century College in Minnesota.  In 1998 I took a position with Northwest Prosthetic and Orthotic Clinic in Bremerton, Wa.  The clinic was eventually sold and in 2008 I opened MPO in Silverdale, WA.

My wife and family have always been there for support and encouragement along the way.  Outside of work I can usually be found with my family enjoying the outdoors.  My favorite saying is, “anything worth doing is worth doing right.”  The picture you see is at the top of Mail Box peak in North Bend with my wife, three girls and Dakota.
